West Nile Vaccine

West Nile Virus is a mosquito-transmitted disease that affects humans and animals. It first appeared in the U.S. in 1999 and it has been spreading rapidly throughout the country. Public health officials in California expect the viral disease to hit this state in full force this summer. Humans, horses and birds contract the virus when bitten by an infected mosquito. California horse owners are being urged to vaccinate their horses against the West Nile Virus....a deadly disease that kills one in three infected horses. Because California has more than a million horses in the state, UC Davis veterinarians are sounding the alarm. Produced by UCDavis NewsWatch. Brought to you by SafetyTV Library, www.safetyissues.com.
